Tips to study biology for NEET 2019 by Edumate Plus

The only way to become stronger at biology is to make your concepts crystal clear. DO NOT leave any topic, any line, any word of NCERT unturned. You have to learn biology NCERT by heart and revise it at-least 10 times in a year and 3–4 times when only 2 months are left.

How to Clear Biology Concepts for NEET

In order to make your concepts clear you can also study from your coaching modules because sometimes NCERT lines are confusing too and to understand NCERT you have to go through your notes as well, but always remember there will be about 75 questions coming directly from NCERT. Ignoring NCERT over coaching modules is the easiest way to lose marks in biology!
The best-est way to get more than 300 marks in biology is to make your own handwritten notes in which you can make flow charts and shortcuts to learn important topics especially Krebs cycle, Glycolysis pathway etc.

Important Chapters in Biology for NEET

The most important units which will set a base in your preparation are Human physiology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics and Morphology of plants. Also in a few units like Ecology, Plant Physiology, Diversity in the living world, Biology in human welfare and Biotechnology, not even a single word outside NCERT is asked. So study these units only and only from NCERT!
After you are done revising a chapter, see the previous year questions of at-least 10 years to know the trend and the type of questions asked from a chapter. This will help you to test how much you remember about the chapter and will help you to work on your weak points. Going through the previous years questions is a MUST. It helps a lot in your preparation.

Practice Biology Questions in NEET Preparation

Plus one last thing which most people ignore is practicing MCQ’s. Practicing is equally important in Biology as it is in Physics and Chemistry. Trust me, in the exam hall, there are more chances of you not remembering what you read than remembering what you practiced. It has happened to me a lot. I may not remember a full chapter but I always remember the questions I practiced and the questions in which I had lost marks. Even in NEET, there were a hell lot of questions which I directly knew because of my mass practice of questions in biology.
But DO NOT attempt questions until you are fully prepared and have revised the chapter thoroughly. The best book to practice biology is NCERT At Your Fingertips. Even if you don’t buy a book or so, practicing all previous year questions and giving all your coaching institute tests would be enough. If you get extra time you can always practice more questions. This book I am particularly telling because in it they have divided the questions very effectively to analyze your skills plus it is wholly based on NCERT.

Important points to remember in last minute preparation of NEET:

NEET is the national eligibility entrance exam for the students who wish to pursue their career in the medical sector. As this exam is tough it needs some important points to keep in mind.
Instead of using multiple reference books & mugging the concepts, students can use NCERT books to learn concepts as this is the best option for NEET preparation. Also, NEET syllabus is completely based according to the NCERT XI & XII books.

“No magic can happen in the last few days which will make you learn what you haven’t till now. But, the last few days to NEET 2018, can prove instrumental in giving you a grip and strength over what you already know and have prepared till now.

Use Revision& Practice Strategy:  During the last few days, practicing of questions based on NEET exam pattern is as important as revising. So combine these two NEET last minute preparation priorities, by revising and practicing alongside. To revise a chapter of Physics/Chemistry, take 45 questions from that chapter and solve them within the time frame you are planning to devote to Physics/Chemistry respectively in the exam. Similarly, to revise chapters of Biology, take 90 questions from that chapter and solve them within the time frame you will devote to Biology in the exam. Following this revision cum practicing strategy will accomplish two important aspects of NEET 2018 last minute preparation.

Don’t begin with new topics:  Last few days should be spent on revising the topics and chapters done earlier, instead of starting a new topic from scratch. One can also spend time as felt appropriate in strengthening the weak but already studied areas instead of beginning with new chapters.

Focus on important topics:  Focus more on important topics and chapters of NEET during the last weeks or days of NEET 2018 preparation. Vanshika, one of the toppers of NEET 2017, suggests that most important topics in Physics are Optics, Electrostatics, Semiconductors, and Electromagnetic waves. She goes on to say that important topics for Chemistry in NEET are Organic Chemistry, P Block Elements, Hydrocarbons, and Atomic Structure. For Biology, she says, Inheritance, Cell, Biological Classification, Plant sexual reproduction are some of the most important chapters.

List Important formulas, Diagrams, and Graphs:  Candidates can list the important topics from Physics or Chemistry on a page and revise them on daily basis. For Biology, candidates can take help of diagrams and graphs and make them during revisions. These formulas, diagrams, and graphs can be revised quickly on the last day within a very short duration.

What are some tips for NEET and AIIMS preparation 2020?

NEET 2020 examination will be conducted by National Testing Agency.
The NEET 2020 examination will have one paper of 3-hour duration. NEET question paper will have a total of 180 questions of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 45 each in Physics & Chemistry, and 90 questions from Biology (Botany, Zoology). All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being the correct choice. Each question carries 4 marks for every correct answer. There is also negative marking, deducting 1 mark for every wrong answer.

Will there be any change in exam pattern of NEET 2020? We will update you whenever any official notification comes out regarding NEET 2020 test pattern. Bookmark this page for the latest updates on NEET 2020.
NEET 2020 Preparation Strategy
The first requirement to clear an exam like NEET or AIIMS is to be passionate about your goals and keep remembering what you will achieve after clearing these exams with top ranks. The next step is to be consistent with your preparation. Daily studies and practice is the most important skill you need to clear NEET or AIIMS.
One important thing for good NEET preparation is your interest in subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. If you love solving problems, understanding concepts, you will want to focus on studies as much as possible, keeping all distractions away. Prepare a simple time table and try to follow it. Don’t follow the schedule/time-table of others.
How many hours of study in NEET preparation? It totally depends on you. What’s your capacity? How does your brain work? You just have to enjoy every hour that you are studying to clear NEET. It can’t be forced. What matters a lot is the quality study that you do and not the number of hours.
NEET and AIIMS both require a thorough knowledge of NCERT. Although it’s advised to follow a coaching study material, you can also use reference books (Don’t refer too many books, one of each subject is enough, and NCERT is a must).
AIIMS and JIPMER preparation strategy for PCB would be the same as NEET. Additionally, for AIIMS and JIPMER, you need to prepare for some additional sections – GK + Aptitude in AIIMS, and English + Reasoning in JIPMER. You can utilize your time after NEET by preparing additional sections in AIIMS and JIPMER. At the same time, you need to keep your focus on PCB revision.
The sequence of learning is important. You should aware of simple, basic concepts before knowing the complex ones. New concept delivered in a way that builds upon existing topics/concepts is easier to make sense of and retain. While solving questions, apply the tricks (mostly taught by your coaching teachers). Practice a lot and learn from your mistakes.
Making notes is very beneficial in your preparation. Make your own notes, don’t buy or use someone else’s work. The notes will be handy during revision. Include your own shortcuts and tricks. "Try to make code words. Loligo, Octopus, Sepia -LOS – mollusks with no larval stage (loss). If you have to learn many examples, make a sentence or something. One word starting with the initial letter of each example. Find out some cool relation. I bet you’d never forget that fountain pen was invented by Waterman." - Mahima Mehra (Lady Hardinge Medical College).
Don’t neglect any topic because you find it hard to understand. Ask your teachers at coaching to resolve your doubts. Make a ‘doubt copy’. Collect all doubts in it along with their solutions. You can use this to revise before NEET.
Revision is a continuous process which must happen daily in some form or other. Revision not in the last few months, but every day. E.g. half an hour before sleep, go through all the things you learned during the day. Keep revising what you learn. Always revise important points, MCQs before sleeping.
After completing the syllabus: Solve NEET past year papers and mock tests. Create an exam like environment at your home and solve the papers at morning time, the time scheduled for the NEET exam. The objective is to have enough practice in solving problems and improving speed and accuracy.
Whenever you attempt any mock / practice test, you are likely to give wrong answers. The objective is not just to solve the test but analyzing it on the same day for mistakes and weakness. If you follow this strategy, you will surely improve with each test that you give during the NEET preparation.
Time management is the key. You should devote enough time to each section i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Attempt that subject first in which you are most comfortable. During the exam and before that in practice tests also, do not let any question eat up your time. Skip the question as soon as you are nowhere close to the answer. Come back to these questions after you finished the whole paper once.
Consistency and Discipline: During NEET preparation, you have to study consistently, whether that is learning concepts or solving problems. When you are consistent in doing the things you know you should do, your odds of achieving your goals will be dramatically increased. Discipline is one of the key differentiators separating those who clear NEET from those who don’t.
Don’t take extreme pressure, it will be good for you if you go with a positive mind to the exam. Avoid silly mistakes, first in mock tests and then on the exam day. Remain calm and composed. That’s the sign of a Doctor in progress!
Subject-wise Study Strategy for NEET 2020
Biology
DO NOT leave any topic, any line, any word of NCERT unturned. You have to learn Biology NCERT by heart. Try to mark only those points which you confuse or forget often. Don’t mark each and every line. Be thorough with the diagrams and their labelings in Biology. Practice Biology questions. Practicing is equally important in Biology as it is in Physics and Chemistry.
"The best-est way to get more than 300 marks in Biology is to make your own handwritten notes in which you can make flow charts and shortcuts to learn important topics especially Krebs cycle, Glycolysis pathway etc." - Shweta Chaudhary (Govt Medical College Chandigarh).
Physics
Understanding the concepts and practicing problems is the key to score well in Physics. While preparing, keep your concepts clear before you go for questions.
"Make a formula list of each chapter and include just the formulas in it and not the whole notes thing and read these whenever you get time to say before meals etc. Practice as many questions as you can because, in the end, only this is going to help you." - Arzoo (AIIMS 2016 AIR 136; NEET 2016 AIR 110; Maulana Azad Medical College).
Chemistry
In Organic Chemistry, You need to study all reaction mechanisms and remember all named reactions. Study the chapter, and make notes while you study each chapter. Keep thinking of reactions and mechanisms in free time. It helps in revision.
Complete NCERT thoroughly and you’ll get your basic footing in Inorganic Chemistry. Make precise notes for each chapter.
For Physical Chemistry, Read from NCERT and have your concepts clarified at your coaching institute. After you are done with the chapter, write down all equations from the chapter in a notebook for speedy reference while solving problems.

Things to avoid in NEET 2020 preparation
Avoid long study hours if it results in fatigue, small breaks after 45–50 minutes of study can improve your productivity.
Avoid using multiple books and material in your preparation. Referencing multiple sources, books and study materials, for similar topics and chapters, uses a lot of cognitive load of the memory. Quality matters more than quantity in NEET preparation.
Avoid backlogs. Always keep yourself up to date with what’s going on in the class. Complete your homework and assignments on time.
Procrastination: Procrastination is a lazy habit, you don’t need this in NEET/AIIMS preparation. Finishing work and assignments on time is a habit which helps in achieving your goal. Clear your doubts asap. Self-discipline is the inner power that pushes you to study hard rather than procrastinating or making excuses.
The excessive TV/Social media/Video games: The distractions come due to lack of interest in studies. If you badly want something, your aim is clear to achieve it. You’ll have plenty of time later to spend your time enjoying things you miss out during the preparation. Get rid of all distractions like TV, Facebook, WhatsApp, Quora, etc.
Getting depressed due to low scores in tests. In your monthly or practice tests, always set a target that how many marks you should get in it. But, don’t set big targets that are not achievable. You will improve with each test. Neither get dejected by bad marks nor become overconfident. Work hard (smart) towards your goal.

JEE Main 2019: 7 quick tips to get 360/360 marks

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 from January 06, 2019, to January 20, 2019, in 258 cities across the nation. The first phase of JEE Main 2019 is just a week away and for a change, the students who are appearing for this examination are still in Class 12. They have to first undergo the pressure of their pre-board examinations in their schools and then a series of entrance examinations.
Most of the students would have another attempt at the JEE Main examination in the month of April, however, they would try to get the maximum marks in this attempt itself. Candidates would already be very anxious, perplexed on how to handle the last minute preparation. Last minute preparation always would be different from the last two years of preparation.

Make your strength stronger: This is not the time for the candidates to study any new area or the area that they are weak at.  Focus on subjects and chapters you are confident aboutTry to do maximum questions from these chapters and make it stronger The idea should be that you should not lose marks especially on the medium or easy questions from this chapter.

Solving Mock tests: Many recommend that you should use this time to solve mocks every day, but I would suggest that you could solve one mock every three days and more than solving it is important to examine the concepts where you went wrong and not making the same mistakes again. After each chapter revision, you could focus on questions from that chapter which has been in previous year JEE Main papers. When you are solving the mock tests, make sure that you take it as seriously as the actual JEE Main exam and solve it in the given time. So, make sure that you are not confused and the environment is also such that as it is going to be on the actual date. This would reduce your anxiety on the exam date.

Balancing SubjectsWhat should I concentrate more out of the three subjects? This is a repeated question which students ask every year, and my answer has always been, now is the time to concentrate on your favorite subject. Since the exam is equally divided between the three subjects, and the idea is to score maximum marks, concentrate on your favorite subject in the exam and try to improve your score. Remember, your mantra should be to score more.

Do not discuss: Do not discuss your preparation strategy with your peers during this time. Each one would have a different strategy and don't get swayed by others' strategy. Make your own and stick to it. Discussing your preparation with others would make you lose your self-confidence. Remember your mock scores do not matter, what matters is the final score of JEE Main, which is just another day.

Sleep well & relax: Do not forget to sleep well during this period; take healthy food (avoid packed or outside food) - you don't need any sickness during this period and relax. Don't study long hours, take small breaks, don't worry about timetable going awry; just relax and start afresh.

Examination day attitude: All strategies and preparation may go wrong as you do not know what the paper is going to be. So, be level-headed, read the instructions carefully, the pattern of examination may change - so be ready to accept it; mark your known questions initially, pick and choose your questions, do not fight with the difficult questions just leave them and go for the next, your question is waiting for you somewhere. Attempt your favorite subject first, keep your weakest subject in between and then take the third subject in that order in the examination. This would make you feel better and gain confidence in the early hour of the examination where you would be tenser. Also, remember that you could get more questions right in the subject you are weak at, so do not leave any subject unanswered, plan your time during the exam well.

Never give up and do not panic: You do not have to prove that you are a subject expert, remember what is more important is to ace the examination with maximum marks. To sum up, just go with the attitude that life is far better if you do not ace this exam, if you do have this attitude, you may come out successfully.

All the best for all students!!!

Simple hacks to score high in NEET 2019

Quick Summary: The NEET is a 3-hour long exam which includes 3 sections — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Of the total 180 questions, 90 would be from Biology and 45 each from Physics and Chemistry. Preparation syllabus includes the whole of 11th and 12th standard NCERT textbooks in the respective subjects.

Solve Previous year question papers:

The wisest step to take now would be to solve question papers of the past few years. No competitive exam preparation is complete without solving past papers.
These often act as a good indication of popular topics and question patterns. It would be best to start by practicing the latest paper first, and keep going backward (attempt the 2018 paper first, followed by 2017, 2016 and so on). This is because, the NEET/AIPMT (as previously called) patterns have been changing over the years, and the last 5 years’ papers will give a good understanding of what to expect.
·         Divide your time- Candidates should divide their time in such a way that an adequate amount of time is given to each session while preparing a strategy of how to crack NEET UG in the first attempt. Priorities the important topics and study them thoroughly. Make sure to take small breaks when studying for long hours.
·
Set deadlines- Deciding when to complete one topic and the whole syllabus will be beneficial considering there are few months left in the first session of NEET. Candidates should set shorter and larger goals for them at the same time. Shorter goals will help candidates in knowing the topics covered each day while the longer goals will help in understanding how much they need to cover to crack NEET in the first attempt.

·         Firstly, gather all the details about the officially prescribed syllabus for the examination.
·         Make a proper time-table for your preparations.
·         Follow the timetable strictly and increase your potential day by day.
·         consider the good preparation books and study materials.
·         Practice mock test & previous year question papers.
·         Make mistakes while practicing, and correct them and never repeat them.
·         Never give up even at your low time.
·         Stay stress-free & healthy while preparing for exams.
·         Don’t try to include new topics at the end of the preparations.

What is Study Timetable of a NEET Topper student?

We all are followers of others!!! we always need a role model or a perfect figure to follow.
if you are NEET Aspirant, then you must have 1 question in your mind about how NEET topper do study? what is their study timetable? how they schedule their time? how they utilize their time?
So after performing a survey on toppers, we are ready to share you this practices & strategies which are mostly used by the neet toppers.

Follow Below strategies to utilize your time while preparing for NEET :
  1. Divide & Learn: The first step I will suggest to do you is, you need to classify your subjects & topics accordingly with respect to its difficulty level & learn the important concepts. Focus on those topics which are most important from exam point of view. Try to remember the theories with the help of figures. as the human brain is capable o store pictures more quickly than a text this technique will help you to remember the theoretical concepts.
  2. Ask Questions to yourself: While you are studying, try to ask questions to yourself. self-questioning will help you when twisted questions asked in exams. Moreover, When we ask something to ownself we are most curious about that topic & this curiosity will give you a way to get a good score.
  3. Test Series & Mock Test: When you have done with the theoretical study for a particular topic, attempt subject-wise mock test or test series. This habit will definitely give you a huge advantage because a quick practice helps our brain to store the information permanently.
  4. Group Study: I know these didn’t work most of the time :P. But if you have a group of 2 or 3 friends then you can use this technic.
If your group is of 4 peoples then divide 4 subjects amongst all of you.
all you need to do to is, study individually on that particular subject which is assigned to you. You can take help of NCERT textbooks & your teachers. Then, choose one perticular day in a week & ask questions(doubts) to your friends about their assigned subject. they can also ask you doubts about the subject you have.
So when I was preparing for NEET, I used to follow this 4 main strategies & it gives me the best results.
I hope you like this.

Don’t forget to share with your friends
